(Recommended - RSS Method) Importing posts from your current CMS to Typeflo

We have built a robust cross-platform content importing system that lets you import posts to Typeflo from any CMS you are currently using.

We use a mix of various methods to enable this content importing system.

Content import methods

There are 3 broad methods of importing content to Typeflo from your existing CMS -

  1. RSS importing

  2. Sitemap importing

  3. CSV / Sheet containing import links

For a seamless import, ensure your CMS supports RSS feeds. Your RSS feed must contain links to all of your blog posts

Your CMS doesn't support RSS? Have an incomplete RSS feed? Don't worry. You can still import content to Typeflo pretty easily.

Lets get started

Step 1: Click on Settings > Import

Click on "Continue"

Step 2: Enter your blogs home page URL and the URL of any individual blog post on your website.

If your main website is accessable on yourdomain.com and your blogs URL is yourdomain.com/blog, enter yourdomain.com/blog

If your main website itself contains links to your blog archive, then enter your main websites URL, that is yourdomain.com

Click on "Connect" to proceed.

You will be presented with a notice. Please read the same and click "Yes I agree" to proceed.

Next, Typeflo will try to find the RSS and sitemap URL of your blog.

Step 3: The mapping process for content import is now initiated. Click on "Get started"

Next, you will be presented with the following screen that shows you 3 options to import content. In this guide, we will be proceeding with RSS feed method.

If you do not have an RSS feed, we recommend you to proceed with

Fetch from RSS feed

Step 4: Choose the "Fetch from RSS Feed" option and then enter your RSS feed URL. Your RSS feed may be pre-populated if we have detected your RSS feed already.

Once you have verified / entered your RSS feed URL, click on "Fetch URLs"

Step 5: Verify the total posts found and select the posts you want to import

Make sure that all post URLs have been detected correctly. This number is indicated in the photo above.

If you see a mismatch in the post count / do not see all of your posts, your RSS feed may be outdated. You may want to try updating it or "change URL fetching method"

Click on "Next" once you have selected the posts you want to import.

Step 6: In the next screens, you will see options for mapping post titles, excerpts, featured images, categories etc in the following format.

  1. The first option would reflect the appropriate content fetched by Typeflo. This is accurate most of the times and is the option you should proceed with in most cases.

  2. This option would skip the mapping of the particular field / give you the option to map it to an existing field in Typeflo (For authors, dates etc)

  3. If Typeflo was not able to detect post content that needs to be mapped, you can manually select / extract the fields with CSS selectors.

Use this guide to understand how to use the CSS selector feature.

Step 7: Select options for all fields until you reach the final field. Click "Start Importing" to proceed with the import process of your content from your existing CMS to Typeflo.
